When it comes to Britain, what could be more quintessentially British than the seaside? And likewise nothing screams British London Style more than the iconic department store we all love - Liberty. So I was very excited to recently receive the Keds Liberty Collection, in particular the Liberty Triple Dot style. After all, you guys know (and see on my social media!) that I spend a lot of my time wearing Keds. So a nice new, and colourful pair were perfect for a day at the seaside.

My Keds Style - The Girlie Girl
So when it comes to style and fashion, I'm very girlie. I'm more comfortable in pretty clothes, with a feminine flare than in something that's a bit hit-and-miss or something that's only going to be fashionable for a brief period of time. I like my clothes, shoes and accessories to be classic and elegant - timeless even. Obviously my wardrobe is still majorly impacted by current trends and I do give in and splurge on the latest shapes and patterns from time to time, but my overall style is more consistent. And that's what I look for in the brands that I class as staples in my wardrobe: timeless elegance, and pure class.

First Quarter Look Back
Unbelievably we're now approaching Easter. How, how, did that happen? It literally seems like last week that I was getting my turkey and stuffing thang on and celebrating Christmas, but here we are, the first quarter of 2016 already down. Funny huh? Here's what's been going on for me...

Fearless Takeover
I've realised something about style and fashion...
But one thing is clear - we are all unique in our sense of style. Personally speaking, my style comes from several things: obviously what I like is key, but I've also come to accept that my body looks better in some shapes, colours and styles than it does in others. And because I've accepted that, I know instantly when I look at an item of clothing whether or not it's going to work for me.
I've realised that everyone has their own unique sense of style. Some go for the meat dresses - Lady GaGa - and others go for the sweetie clad bikinis - Katy Perry.
Now, I'm not boring, I love a good random item every now and then - trying a new shape of dress for a night out, going for a daring style shoe etc - but overall I know what styles work best for me - and I tend to stick to those because, well, who wants to be walking around feeling unsure of how they look?! As ladies we should be walking around feeling amazing, fearless, confident and happy with ourselves - we may not have the choice when it comes to paying the bills, but we do have the choice over what we wear, and so, we should always have our happy outfits on!
One of my favourite places to get my clothes is Fearless. They are an amazing British fashion brand who sell the most fantastic and girly clothes that are perfect for my sense of style. Most of my friends shop here too because they have such a vast amount of shapes, sizes and styles to choose from. They are also fantastically priced and one order from Fearless sees me fill my wardrobe without breaking the bank - which is very important!
If, like me, you don't want to always be buying your clothes from the High Street and pass other ladies in the same outfit, then brands like Fearless are the way forward. Their selection of clothing covers the basic staple items you need for every day wear like gorgeous jersey style tops and jeans in different fits and colours etc. But then they also have these amazing dresses and tops which are all catwalk inspired and just that little bit different to the things you get on the High Street. The great thing is that these styles and options come without the hefty price tag, so it really is win/win!

My latest Fearless outfit was something I wore for a girls days out recently and it's already one of my favourite outfits for this winter. I have to admit when I was picking the outfit, I knew I was feeling bold and wanted something a bit different, something to get my out of my jeans. So this is what I went for...
The base of the outfit was a black swing dress. I love these swing dresses and class them as a staple piece. I wear them a lot because they cling nicely at the top and show off my figure, while also hiding my child bearing hips (boo). Tight at the top, and loose around the middle section is a style I love and Fearless sell these dresses in several colours for only £14 (!) and they are fantastic quality and really comfortable. You can wear them casually or really dress them up, so I recommend everyone has at least one of these in their wardrobe.
The next part of my girls day outfit, and probably the statement piece, was this gorgeous (and very cosy) faux fur gillet. It's a warm cream colour, and has a shaggy faux fur style to it which I loved because these gillets are so fashionable and on trend right now. I've seen these in the shops with some mahoosive price tags, but this one only costs £38 and they do have it available in black as well. I love wearing mine with jeans and a basic long sleeved top as well. It's versatile enough to go with most casual outfits as well as the glam look, and the next time I wear it, the plan is to wear it with faux leather trousers and heels on a night out...

Next - the shoes! I'm a shoe person. Shoes are my thing. So these boots had to come and live with me. They are called 'Dare Me' and are suede over the knee boots with a cute chunky heel. The over the knee look is something I had admired from afar until I got these beauties. I was unsure if I could pull them off, but as soon as I tried them on, I was so glad to see that I could. Another absolute bargain at only £40 - yep, £40 for a pair of suede over the knee boots! They really glammed up my outfit for the day, and I love to wear them with my jeans and gillet too. I've even pushed the boundaries of 'business-wear' and worn them to work a few times too. Told you I was fearless right?!
And what outfit wouldn't be complete without accessories? My favourite style of jewellery right now is a statement necklace, and this Boho Dreams necklace is my favourite by far. It's got an amazing shape, and the thing I love about it is the length. Most of the statement necklaces I own come on such long chains that the don't sit close to my neck - where I want them. This one sits exactly where I want it, so it falls nicely too. I wear this all the time and it adds a bit of glam to my daily outfits.
This outfit is one I will be rocking regularly throughout the winter, it's got that edge of style but it's comfortable and not too over the top. That's the thing I love about Fearless - they bring you high fashion yet they don't sting you with insane prices. You can literally kit yourself out for winter without spending much at all, and all their clothes are good quality and long lasting as well.
So, if you're looking for a one stop shop for your winter wardrobe then make sure you visit the Fearless website - I can guarantee you'll be asking Santa for more than just a few things - I know I am!

For The Fox Lover In Your Life
Considering I'm *almost* done as far as Christmas shopping goes, I'm feeling pretty good about now being able to pick up bits and pieces as extra's.
This year, I decided that for each of my close friends I was going to pick a theme for their gifts and stick to that. I can't reveal all the themes, but this one excited me so much that I just had to share it with you...foxes!
Sounds random right? But foxes/woodland creatures are really big right now in the gift and home markets. And when I started to have a look around for unique gifts, I was overwhelmed with how much choice there was!
So I've put together a little collage with my top gifts for the fox theme lover in your life:
My top personal favorites are:
The Kate Spade 'Ericka' slip on black shoes. I mean wow! If you're into foxes, or you know someone who is - then these shoes are going to be the ultimate status symbol. However at £170, I'm guessing you'd have to love a fox theme fan VERY much to buy them a pair of these!

This fabulous thermal mug is not only super cute, but it's an absolute bargain too! It's only £3 from Primark and is available in stores (usually around the till areas). I have actually bought one of these for my fox loving friend as part of her Christmas package. Useful and cute - and only £3! Are you feeling foxy?

In my world, Christmas isn't Christmas without funny presents. I love a giggle, so my friends and family are used to me giving them gifts that express my humor. So for the fox lover in your life, why not buy this hoody from Ebay? It's only £17.99 and it has free postage, oh for fox sake...

I think it's like a rule, that at Christmas you get new pj's. Personally I love a good pair of pjama's as I tend to get in them as soon as I get home from work - yes, I'm that cool. These red fox pj's are super cool and are currently on sale for £22. The fox lover in your life could even be foxy in their sleep...see what I did there?!
Who doesn't have a phone now days? Exactly! So a phone case is always a winner as a gift. This cute festival fox case in rubbery and comes from Claire's Accessories for £8. They have it available for most recent makes and models too, and this festival fox is also on some of the other items in my collage - including the sippy cup and earrings...so why not get all three?!

Who said foxes didn't like to look beautiful? You can even get lip balms with a fox theme too - for £3.95! Granted the lip balm is located in the nether regions of the fox, but hey, other than that this would make an excellent stocking filler for a fox lover!
SO, those are my top picks for fox theme lovers. If you saw something on the collage that I haven't mentioned here, then follow this link where you will be able to find details of all the items I used in my collage!
And you, yes YOU, you're looking foxy!
...sorry, I couldn't help it!

28 Things You Learn By The Time You're 28
It's my birthday in a week or so and I've been reflecting on all of the wonderfully hard learnt life lessons I've had in the past 27 years (I'm 28 this month).
It's funny how the older you get (oo-er) the more open you become to learning about life, yourself and the world around you. I think it's because in our teens and early twenties we are so sure that we've got it all sussed - and then we actually realise that we have no clue what we're doing, but neither does anyone else, so hey, lets all wing it together. Either that or I was just incredibly stubborn in my younger years.
So, as the big 3-0 begins to loom (a few years yet, I know), I thought I would share with you the things I've learnt, and hope to God that I'm not the only one...
1. Hangovers last longer. WAY longer. Those days of sleeping till 3pm and then junk fooding it through the day, with little sign of a headache - they're long gone. Now you're lucky if you aren't still feeling ill 2-3 days later.
2. You've accepted your taste in men sucks. Big time. You also have zero clue what to do about it.
3. You've not yet stopped phoning your mum on a Sunday asking how you cook a Sunday roast exactly like she does. And how long do you cook gammon for, or how do you make that lamb dish she does? You've accepted you've not yet stopped asking, so you probably never will.
4. Someone lied. You still gets spots in your twenties, and your late twenties at that.
5. That cute stationery shop? Anything pink and fluffy? You don't have to hide your love for kitsch things anymore. It's kind of cool to like the previously uncool.
6. You obsess about ageing. That large birthday approaching in a few years is like another reminder that you're not yet engaged or married and you still can't boil an egg properly.
7. You actually eat salad. Out of choice. Your mother refuses to believe this, even when she's a witness.
8. Being an adult is just googling how to do stuff.
9. No-one buys you advent calendars and you can't quite bring yourself to buy your own. You almost covert your own child's daily countdown...
10. You value your work colleagues. You spend most of your waking hours with them, and you may as well get on with them and have some fun with them, or else the days will be painfully slow. And boring.
11. No-one is going to tell you off for eating dessert for dinner. Woohoo!
12. You feel so smarmy when you see your old maths teacher. You never did need that square root of pi.
13. You don't experiment with high fashion styles anymore. You've found what fits, looks good and works for your budget and you're not prepared to stray too far away from it.
14. That old saying is true, you're stronger than you think. You can take more than you think you can bear. You got this. Whatever 'this' is.
15. As much as spontaneity is brilliant, you welcome plans and routine. You even buy calendars and planners to help you keep track of everything. And if you don't have your diary and someone invites you to an event, you break out in cold sweats.
16. Netflix and chill actually does mean watching Netflix and chilling out - in fluffy slippers and bun head.
17. They lied. Your body won't look like that, ever.
18. You understand why expensive underwear exists. And what's more, you actually own some.
19. No longer do you go for the youth of today drinks like WKD, nope, you're all about Gin. Your tastes have matured and you don't even care.
20. You like what you like. Your hobbies make you happy and you couldn't care less who thinks otherwise.
21. You understand the importance of keeping your mouth shut at times. Doesn't always mean you manage to though...
22. Chipped nail varnish is completely unacceptable. No excuses.
23. Speaking of unacceptable, bad spelling and grammar will offend you. You appreciate the ability to spell and punctuate.
24. Sometimes when you open your mouth your mother comes out. Worse, sometimes your grandmother.
25. Have a job you love. Life is too short to hate where you spend the majority of your waking hours. But don't quit until you've got another one lined up.
26. Scented candles are the best thing in the world. It doesn't matter how expensive they are, they're an investment in the cosiness of your home.
27. Nights out don't equal the most fun. Sometimes the best nights are the ones on the sofa laughing with your girls so much you can't remember why you ever wanted to get dolled up, totter in heels and throw away the best part of £100 for a three day hangover...
28. You don't have to ask permission to get a tattoo or stay out late, and it feels so good.
So, do you agree? Or have I missed anything out?!

10 Things I Would Tell My Younger Self
I'm not yet the big 3-0. In fact, I'm not quite 28 yet, although I'm edging closer by the day. I expected that by this age I would feel 'adult-y'. But I don't. I have realised that being an adult is actually just about googling how to do stuff, and phoning your mum to ask her how she does things. And then just pretending you know how naturally. I've realised that maybe you don't ever actually feel like an adult..ever? I've also realised and learnt many things that I wish I could tell my younger self. Some of which I will share...
1. Don't Waste Money On Lunch Every Day.
Working opposite practically every single food outlet known to man is wonderful for satisfying the daily munchies that appear mid morning, however buying lunch every day is super expensive. At it's least it's £3 a day for a sandwich meal deal, and at the worst it's feeding-friday in the office when it's all out eat until you explode. When you add the money up, you could practically buy a Mulberry with the money you save over a year! Sarnies and a Barbie lunchbox are the way to go.
2. Save More.
Urgh. I sound like an old person - or an actual adult. But seriously, save more. Those unexpected bills, car bills, boiler break-downs DO happen. And they're flipping expensive. Saving just a teeny bit means you don't have to delve into the shoe fund, and can still afford to repair the car, and get the Loubs.
3. The World Doesn't End When Your Heart Gets Broken.
And boy, does it get broken more than once. Those horrible days and weeks after a heartbreak can feel like the whole world is ending, or worse, like it's not - and everyone but you is stuck in a time warp of misery. Those evenings of crying into your pillow and/or gin, thinking you'll never meet anyone else, that you'll never get over this guy, or that guy - it does happen. The world does go on, and so will you (swear, I could write a song about this). Yes, it will really, REALLY suck for a while, and sometimes a while is months, but eventually you'll wake up and it will hurt a little bit less. And then a bit less. And eventually you'll think about them less, and even more eventually you will meet someone else who will show you that you aren't the unlovable, unfancyable person you felt like. Ta-da, the world didn't really end - it is also acceptable to punch someone who tells you this at the time. Wallowing is absolutely fine.
4. Your Hips Don't Lie.
Darling, when you're young and youthful (and pre-babies) your body will bounce back with the bounciness of something really bouncy. That night out? That extra cake? No problem, your body will love you as much the day after, as it did the day before. However, when you approach 30 and/or are post-baby, it's not quite the same. That night out? Your skin, headache, tiredness will remind you of it for days. There will be no recovery less than 2/3 days. Of pure horrificness that cannot be solved with a cheeky McDonalds anymore. That extra cake? You may as well stick it directly on your bum. Just join the gym earlier and you might have a better outcome.
5. Step Out Of Your Comfort Zone.
Who wants to live a life that's always the same? Taking risks is scary, and don't get me wrong, the older you get, those risks become slightly more calculated when you have bills/career/child/partner riding on the back of them, BUT the risks are what make memories. Resting where you're comfortable is safe and secure, and that's fine, but once in a while take a risk. It might backfire, it might be a totally explosion of crap at the highest level, but the memory or lesson will make you who you are. AND will help you accomplish the things you want...that dream job? Apply. That gorgeous guy? Approach him. Travelling? DO IT! Step out of your comfort zone, and take some ground.
6. Don't Mix Drinks.
Okay. I'm probably really late to this party. But I was always Mrs Sensible when I was younger when it came to drink. Boring, I know. It wasn't until I started to enjoy a night out a bit more, that I realised mixing drinks was a big, fat NO. Namely - wine, champagne and tequila. Just don't do it. I can assure you it seems like a good idea at the time, but it never will be. Infant, the morning after it will resemble a nightmare. Nuff said.
7. Drinking On A School Night Is Actually Okay.
Those things about school nights being taboo? NAH! Some of the best nights out happen on a Thursday where I'm from, you know the kind, where one drink after work turns into shots and dancing to Timberland in your work suit at 2am, when you've got work at 9am again... It's also okay to have a glass of wine after work, or maybe a bottle depending on the gravity of the day. Anyone that tells you it's not okay to drink on a school night needs to loosen up. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
8. Heels Are ALWAYS Best.
Some girls can pull off the cute flats. You - can not. Some girls can make flats look fashionable and cute and some can even manage sexy in flats. You are not one of those girls. You look like a platypus who's drunk and blind when wearing flats. Yes they're easy and casual, but to other people you look like you've forgotten how to walk. Give the flats a miss and leave them for the girls who can pull them off.
9. Matching Socks And Underwear Means You've Made It.
Appreciate the period in your life where you don't have a child to get ready for school, a dog to let out, breakfast to make, a boyfriend to take care of...those mornings come so very infrequently. Having the time to match your pair of socks, and your underwear is a rarity in the life of a parent. It's so rare, you'll actually feel like a superhero when you do manage it. So, my advice? Enjoy every moment of the years when you can indulge in wearing a matching bra and pants set without needing to run from the ironing basket to the bedroom drawer like a headless chicken whilst assessing whether 12 minutes late is REALLY that bad.
10. Buy A Lawnmower.
Ugh. The ultimate sign of 'adulthood'. The worst purchase you'll ever make, and yes you'll stand at the till in B&Q and begrudge handing your card over, while thinking of all the clothes and make-up you could buy with the money. But if you don't, your garden will resemble a jungle of the worst kind, and people (mostly your elderly neighbours) will hate and judge you for your lack of ability to cut it and be a normal human being.

Autumn Loving
Autumn.
Fall.
Whichever side of the atlantic you're on, this time of year is my absolute fav. Not only is knitwear way more comfy, but it's also great because, who knows? I could just be wearing a super baggy jumper, or I may be hugely bloated from eating too much - the joys of autumnal knitwear are endless. And they cover a multitude of sins - including wearing your pyjamas underneath to nip to the shop...
Everyone loves autumnal colours. I'm no photographer, I can barely take a decent selfie, let alone a 'proper' photo. But autumn colours are amazing, lots of orange, brown and natural colours through nature as well as gracing the catwalks - bravo. I love looking at autumnal photography on Pinterest, and imagining myself in some gorgeous American town, sitting near a lake in my gorgeous wooden house....you know the type... hey, a girl can dream.
Autumn fashion is my favourite for other reasons - mostly, boots. I flipping LOVE boots. Of all footwear, boots are my favourite. Give me a boot over a flip-flop any day. A nice bit of heel for a sexy edge (and added bum wiggle, don't deny you know it happens in heels) but lots of protection from the cold. And everyone that knows me, knows I hate being cold. Winter is hibernation for Lady Writes, I literally clothe myself in a ridiculous amount of layers and quite frequently refuse to leave my house. I also have my heating turned up so high it resembles a tropical country - so autumn is a perfect balance, and the first time I get to crack out the boots after months of open toe sandals and wedges. Hurrah.
It's also the season for funky, thick, scarfs to a.) practically keep warm b.) make any outfit look awesome with little effort. It's okay to wear leather (or faux leather in my case), it's okay to wear clothes that look like your nan knitted them, because somehow (thank the Lord) this style has come back in. And it's also perfectly fine to wear thick fluffy socks at every opportunity.
And the food. Oh the food.
Thank you autumn for your food. I need to eat salad. I'm a foodie. I love eating, but these hips are not as narrow as they once were (cheers childbirth) so salad is common. But come autumn, I've had enough salad and the slow cooker comes out - stew, broth, thick soup, bakes....oh wow, dumplings! Hearty meals that make me proud to be British (lets face it, the weather doesn't). I love them all. And thanks to the above mentioned knitwear, you can eat as much as you like - and no-one knows! Genius.
Sunset walks before it gets cold.
Starry nights. And nights in cuddled up with a movie and glass of wine, because frankly, you're all partied out from the summer. And most likely, skint too.
And of course, the looming C word...
Christmas.
Get your mind out of the gutter guys!
